In this new position Robin van Berkel will be responsible for the fund business and collective investments of Swiss Life Asset Managers, focusing mainly on expanding the collective investments business.

Swiss Life Asset Managers has successfully expanded its institutional asset management business in recent years. At the end of March 2016, the company had CHF 41.6 billion in third-party assets under management. At the Swiss Life Investor's Day November 2015, Swiss Life Asset Managers announced its ambition to increase its assets under management for third parties to CHF 50 billion by the end of 2018.
"We want to build on our success by focusing on growth in our third-party asset management and real estate. To do that we will have to strengthen our activities and services in fund business and collective investments so we can reach our growth targets", says Stefan Mächler.
Robin van Berkel began his career at Credit Suisse Group in 1991, where he worked in a number of roles until 2007, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director in Investment Fund Distribution for Europe. He subsequently worked as Director of Sales & Business Development for the Private Bank Rüd, Blass & Cie AG, where his responsibilities included product design and the launch of a Swiss property fund of funds. In 2009, he was instrumental in the merger of Rüd, Blass & Cie AG with its parent company Deutsche Bank (Switzerland) AG and in the founding of the subsidiary Rüd Blass Vermögensverwaltung AG, where he had ultimate managerial responsibility. He also worked as business manager of Private Wealth Management for North & Central Europe at Deutsche Bank (Switzerland) AG. Robin van Berkel holds a degree in economics from the University of Zurich.
